About me

I thought I'd take today to tell you some things about me. Of course, I now have to think of some things about me that I want to share.

1. I'm married, but we don't have any children yet. We want to have kids, but it hasn't happened so far. (We're in our mid-20s, so we have some time. He wants to wait, I'm not so sure that I do.)

2. D and I are trying to eat healthier (we both need to loose some weight).

3. I listen almost exclusively to country music, but happen to know more popular songs (not country, but pop) than I would like to admit to because of people like my sister who don't just listen to country.

4. I seem to love collecting movies even if I don't watch them often, just to be able to watch them whenever. If you ever get a chance to see Serenity, see it.

5. I like watching Dr. Phil and The People's Court (the second is like a guilty pleasure... I feel stupid watching it, but it's so hilarious). But my all-time favorite show is CSI (without liking any particular 'ship). I also miss watching The Pretender, but some of the plot sounds really bad when you try to explain it to someone else. If you ever get a chance to see Firefly, see it.

6. I also watch lots of cartoons, because I never want to fully grow up. I think that anyone who does loses a very important part of themselves. After all, children have the clearest and brightest view of the world.

I will have to post more about me later.

Then again...

Apparently my post yesterday was premature. We have a working DVR, but we don't have all our cable channels (we had them yesterday). We are now going to have someone come work on it on Thursday, so that is an improvement. And we lodged a complaint today about how the techs treated D on Saturday. Customer service was more than willing to concede that a signal problem isn't caused by us installing a DVR. After the team comes and checks out our set up (which is perfect), they will fix the problem and credit our account for the week that we will have been without all our channels.

Today was also a day that we got to see an idiot driving a car. We were on the highway, when it went from three lanes down to one (Don't you love construction?). Predictably there were some cars that just didn't want to get over when they learned that it went down (until they were forced to). Some idiot was driving near us when it went from two lanes to one (since the city was smart enough to go down slowly from three to two to one), and he then almost hit us and the vehicle a construction worker was in trying to get in front of us. My main thoughts on this are: 1. if you are in such a rush, leave earlier, if possible, 2. if you are in a rush, getting into an accident (or almost into one) is a STUPID thing to do, and 3. he could have stopped long enough for someone to let him in. Things like that make it where I don't want to drive (thankfully D was driving at the time).

DVR saga finished

Today D plugged the DVR back in (just to see what would happen) and to our surprise it works just fine. We're excited, but we still have to deal with our cable company tomorrow (canceling that work order and lodging a complaint). I have to say that I'm on such an emotional high from having a working DVR now. Tomorrow will take care of itself, and I'm enjoying watching TV in my living room (while recording a couple of shows).

DVR Saga continued

I know that 2 days does not really make a saga, but the fact that we are still having problems with our DVR (after getting a new one) makes it feel like a saga. We returned the one we got yesterday (brand new) and got another box. When we plugged it in (as happened yesterday) we had some of our channels, but not all of them. We called to get that problem fixed, again, and then the problems started all over again. We are (now) being told by our cable company (which we are getting more and more frustrated with) that they cannot fix the "signal" problem until a week from today because it is a failed install so it's not their fault. The tech support guy also refused to change some info in the computer to up when we are going to get our problem fixed even though we are supposed to be VIPs because of our bundle. The boss (who was probably just another tech) refused to even listen to D about what had happened. We will be talking to our lawyers on Monday (after we try lodging a complaint with tech support) to try to fix the problem more quickly. Right now, our cable company is quickly losing favor with us in how they operate. That and their tech support (which is part of customer service... even if they don't want to admit it) sucks.

Frustration

Today was frustrating. Hubby (known as D from now on) and I got a DVR from our local cable company (it's a DVR/cable box). We were all excited until we got it home. We found out when we set it up that we got only the regular cable channels (we pay for all the digital channels, so it's kind of a rip off if we don't get them), but that's no problem since it happened whenever we got cable boxes before. We call to have them reset the box so it will show all the channels, but instead of it working right after that, it now doesn't show picture or make sound. Then they tell us that they cannot come and fix it for over a week (but we can replace the DVR tomorrow). So we went to a bookstore to get out of the house for a little while. D was wanting to know what happened to a book he ordered. He finds out that the shipping company delivered the book to the wrong address (completely wrong address, our address is mostly numbers and I'm not sure if the address even had any of the right numbers in it). Naturally we're wanting them to get the book back for us as soon as possible and to pay the bookstore for the second book they had to order for us since they misdelivered the book in the first place. All in all a rather frustrating evening.

cell phone

My cell phone dropped in the trash today. It's my husband's fault too. We had gone out to run errands (like most people do) and I forgotten my cell phone at home. The only problem is that I forgot it was left at home. He was trying to help find it (so I wouldn't freak out), so he called it. I left my phone where it could vibrate off the tray table and into the trash can (which he placed by the tray table). I only accept part of the blame for leaving my phone at home. I place the rest of the blame solely on his shoulders. (I would like to add that I am not at all mad that this happened, it was just a funny story to add to the blog.)

Hello

I don't know that anyone wants to read anything I think up, but I'm going to write and see if anything happens. I think this may be a good place to come and write and vent my frustrations about what is going on with my life (with names changed to protect the innocent and the guilty). So far, today has been a good day. I like the days when my emotions are under control. I guess I'll post more later.
